Since we all picked up our second consecutive win to begin the postseason out undefeated at 25, our start to the playoffs continued last night. Last night, we jumped on the Tampa Bay Rays (+122) as road underdogs against the Oakland Athletics. I believed strongly as he dominated that the As in two regular season starts, that Charlie Morton was the greater side of the starting pitching matchup, and he ended the season. On the flip side, the As chose to pass on ace Mike Fiers and went in Sean Manaea, that had made just five starts all season long with the hot hand. I said in my selection yesterday despite the fact that Manaea was basically unhittable since rejoining the team in September, after missing almost a year of enjoying time, I simply couldnt trust him in a game this large with so few innings pitched this season. And I was correct as the child has blasted in just two innings of work. This is the second year in a row which the As made the card game and made a decision to pass on starting the two times, and their ace Mike Fiers that decision blew up in their faces. It makes you wonder whether theyd alter their minds given a opportunity? While Morton had to work himself out of many jams and was a bit shaky, he gutted it out and then ended with five innings pitched and allowed only one unearned run and picked up the win. The door was maintained by the Rays bullpen along with Tampa Bay is headed into the American League Divisional Series to face the Houston Astros. For the choice of today, well head to Atlanta in which the Braves host the Cardinals. The St. Louis Cardinals have been in Atlanta Thursday for game one of those five-game National League Divisional Series. Despite losing four out of their last five matches of the season the Cardinals managed to hold the streaking Milwaukee Brewers for the NL Central Division title. The Cardinals finished the season 91-71. For the Braves, they ran away with the NL East Division title and coasted to the number two seed from the National League. As they lost out five of the last six 18, they stumbled on the finish line. However, much of that is related to gamers and losing a couple of important guys to injury. Now that the games matter again, you can expect Atlanta to pick the speed up. Beginning for the Braves is Dallas Keuchel (8-8 3.75 ERA), and for the Cardinals it is Miles Mikolas (9-14 4.16 ERA). The match complete over-under is set at nine and a half of runs. The Braves have been -140 favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 2:02 PM PST from SunTrust Park at Atlanta. The St. Louis Cardinals have experienced among the greatest total pitching staffs in the National League this year. However, they did not get the chance to place their rotation, as they fought for the division title until the final match of the season, and they will not be sending their best here in sport one. Jack Flaherty is clearly the ace of the team, and after that, well, there are queries. Mile Mikolas looked like an ace last year, yet this year? Yeah, not too much. struggling at the first half of the calendar year Hed get much better in the second half, however he isnt the type of man you are going to want to pitch at a match one. After heading 18-4 with a 2.83 ERA last year, Mikolas was only 9-14 with a 4.16 ERA this year. He nearly pitched himself because he had a stretch of three straight starts where he allowed at least five earned runs in each game. Hed repay a few in September because his ERA is still a respectable 3.34, but then, he has struggled with balancing as he has permitted at least three earned runs in all his five September starts. He was decent and made a start against the Braves this year. In that one, he threw seven innings, allowed three earned runs, and picked up a hard luck. Mikolas has got the stuff and the Cardinals will want him to step up big time in this series if they want any chance to knock off the Braves. When the Atlanta Braves made the movement to go out and pickup Dallas Keuchel from this couch in June, they had hoped it would work well for them. And its done as Keuchel provides and has been a powerful arm. Keuchel is not blowing anyones doors off this year, but hes used his trademark efficiency catch deep into matches and to force a whole lot of ground balls. Keuchel has thrown or even deeper, in fifteen minutes of his nineteen begins this season and has pitched less than five innings just after. The Braves will probably be leaning on Keuchel as hes got a lot of postseason experience, as he has a World Series ring out of his period with Houston and has created ten postseason appearances. This match would be a lot different if it were Jack Flaherty. The Braves are the team in this series, but also had the Cards developed to pitch Flaherty double they could have found a way. But using their starting spinning that is jumbled up, I do not think that they have much shot at pulling off the upset. Mikolas has been too inconsistent to desire to back to the street in the playoffs. At home this season, Mikolas had an ERA of just 3.01. On the road? He actually fought as he was 4-8 with a 5.40 ERA. The only thing thats keeping this number as tight as it is, is the simple fact that the Braves finished the regular season just a bit banged up. Both superstars are expected to play tonight, however, those moves were somewhat sterile than anything else, although freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuna Jr missed time down the stretch. This game wont be competitive if the Braves are in full power. I believe Atlanta finds a way to evaluate a few runs off of Mikolas ancient, and Keuchel should be fine enough to hold on the win for Atlanta. Give the Atlanta Braves as home favorites tonight in game one at -140 to me! Read more here: http://classicsounds.pl/?p=37102
