Charlie Appleby has his sights set on a second victory in the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes, week since he Guesses That the unbeaten Pinatubo for Its Group One showpiece at the Curragh on Sunday.
Even the Shamardal colt has ever been a impressive performance from the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and recently one of the stars of the season such as the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, winning each of his starts to date, in the juvenile division. Appleby struck 12 weeks ago with Quorto - that a boy of Dubawi, who'd won the race for Godolphin in 2004. The Newmarket trainer advised irishchampionsweekend.ie:"We are on track, all is well with Pinatubo and this race has ever been our aim. "He's been pleasing us in the home and really the only issue could be if the floor were really testing, however he handled conditions good at Goodwood and he should be all systems go to the Curragh. "He's the ideal profile to currently be moving into Group One company and, four from four, of course he is exciting. He is spot on temperamentally plus it was nice to win on the race. We won it last year with Quorto and (Godolphin) had last won the race with his father Dubawi." Opposition to the Appleby-trained runner could include Ger Lyons' Siskin, that was last seen last month, winning the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh. Appleby added:"This really is going to be a race with at least two exciting colts since Ger Lyons' Siskin has looked very good and he will probably be more happy on an adequate surface although he won testing ground last moment. "It was fantastic to win this race last year and I am really anticipating it, with Pinatubo ideally on course for the Dewhurst in Newmarket after it" Read more here: http://classicsounds.pl/?p=37398
