Rhys Patchell is going to soon be appropriate for the World Cup despite suffering his third concussion in a year, insists Warren Gatland. The 26-year-old fly-half abandoned the pitch through the first half of Wales' 19-10 defeat Ireland on Saturday to get a head-injury assessment (HIA) after colliding with CJ Stander in the build-up into Ireland's very first try. Head trainer Gatland confessed on Saturday evening that Patchell will be evaluated from the medics within the next few days, with the squad flying on Wednesday to Japan. Wales have two fly-halves within their squad, with Gareth Anscombe recovering both that the two playmakers to the World Cup. Asked if Patchell would be on that trip, Gatland said:"Patchell is going to be fine for this. He seems okay from the changing rooms now. "He's only got to be assessed within the next few days. We are going to speak with the medics about this and see how he fares over the next few days." Patchell has suffered a wretched run of injury luck, having fought a torn hamstring along with two concussions across the class of the previous 12 months. He's acquitted himself well in Wales' warm-up matches, but faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup opener against Georgia. Asked if he had some issues with only two fly-halves within his group, Gatland added:"We will see how he comes out of the next few days. "He definitely deserves some fantastic luck because he has gone well. And the thing is that's often where the concussions happen when players move low and he went low and the tackler gets hit by a knee or a hip. "So that's something we'll have to keep watching on with World Rugby." Read more here: http://classicsounds.pl/?p=37404
