Following a week off, the Dragon Energy NASCAR Cup Series is back in action as they put the pedal to the metal in Talladega Superspeedway for the GEICO 500.
When the Cup series was last in action, it was Martin Truex Jr. driving to victory lane at Richmond Raceway and he's odds of +800 to repeat, but it is Kyle Busch at +275 who is favored to win at Talladega. BetOnline has Busch at +275 followed by Kevin Harvick in +650, Joey Logano in +700, Brad Keselowski in +750, Martin Truex Jr. in +800, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney in +1200, Chase Elliott at +1400, Kyle Larson at +2000 and Jimmie Johnson at +2200 to round out the top 10 drivers around the oddsboard. Standout Stats Ford has been notable at Talladega lately, winning 10 of the last 13 races there, including the last seven in a row. The pole sitter has just won once in the previous 23 races but the winner has qualified in the top 10 in 12 of the last 18. Stay away from Kyle Busch this weekend. Although he is the points leader and has a season-high few wins this season, Talladega hasn't been a path of achievement for its Nevada native. Busch won the spring race there in 2008 and has not returned to victory lane because and he's finished outside of the top 10 in seven of the previous nine runnings in the superspeedway. Joey Logano has been very competitive at the superspeedway lately, picking up three checkered flags over the last seven races, also contains five top-five finishes over that span. Additionally, he has led 20 or more laps in five of the past ten runnings. Brad Keselowski has been a hit-or-miss driver as soon as the Cup series heads to Talladega because he has won five of his 20 professional races there and has led laps in each of the previous six runnings at the 2.66-mile track. However, he has finished 15th or worse in seven of the last 12 races at the superspeedway as well. This week kevin Harvick might have some worth. I have been staying away from him this season as he has not been the driver he was last year, but he has still managed to collect two stage wins and has four top-five finishes. Harvick led a career-high 46 laps at Talladega last September and qualified on the pole in the April race. But he's finished outside of the top 15 in five of the last seven runnings at the superspeedway and hasn't driven to victory there because 2010. My Best Bet for the GEICO 500 Joey Logano +700 The Connecticut native was awfully competitive this year, landing in the top 10 in six of the nine races so far, including one trip to victory lane one of five top-five finishes. Fords have been dominant at Talladega and Logano almost constantly finds himself leading the package at a certain point during races in the superspeedway.
