Sixteen-year-old Luke Matheson was dreamland after scoring against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night - but will probably go back to reality Thursday using a psychology evaluation at college. Defender Matheson - entering his year at school and old 15 - and his first match played becoming the club's youngest debutant, in an EFL match match against Bury. Yesterday evening, Matheson equaliser against United Rochdale's Carabao Cup third-round tie to penalties - although they proceeded to reduce 5-3 on spot-kicks. "Everything's just happened so quickly," Matheson tells Sky Sports News. "Wow. What do I say? Never did I think I would be 16 years old scoring at Old Trafford - that's a dream come true for anybody. "It is surreal. I am lost for words. It turned out to be a night the group, for me, Bryan Barry-Murphy [the Rochdale manager] and everyone. It was unreal. "This was my mum's first match in five years because she's been ill. So one was due to her. She was here watching." Asked if he gets to miss school on Thursday, Matheson added:"We get tomorrow off, but I will enter college - I've got a psychology test. "I suppose we could've won, but the result doesn't take anything away from crying - it was fantastic. It was kind of a bummer that we didn't get the winbut we could not have asked for anything more I believed we were excellent." Matheson is a guardian but his goal was purely instinctual and"something I'll remember for the rest of my lifetime", he states. "I've kind of just seen Ollie Rathborne set it up for me and I've kind of just found it and I did not actually consider it that my body took over," he said. "I sprinted to the ball, found it hit the roof of the internet along with the adrenaline shot then I was away in front of the lovers. "The feeling was amazing, everyone was absolutely buzzing and words can not describe that feeling of the pack in the bash. The enthusiasm was something special." Read more: football bet predictions
