HOW DOES IT WORK?
The bet consists of two components: the'Win' and also the'Location'. Each part of the bet must be an equivalent stake, e.g. a #5 each way bet will have #5 to the'Win' and #5 to the'Place' making a total of #10. The'Win' section of your bet is on your own horse to finish first, and the'Place' part is on your own horse to finish either first or in a few of the areas, e.g. 2nd, 3rd, 4th (5th or 6th with chosen bookmakers). HOW DO I WIN? If your horse comes home first (wins), the'Win' and'Place' parts of your wager will cover. But if your horse just puts, you'll shed the'Win' part of your bet but you'll still collect on the'Place' 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th or 6th*. HOW MUCH DO I GET? The amount won depends upon number of factors. Most of all, was the race won by your horse or was he just placed? And what chances did you get? Let us assume that your horse wins (1st) in 50/1 and you have endorsed him for #10 each way. The #5'win' part of your bet pays out #250 (#5??50/1) and also the #5'win' bet is returned, providing you with #255, you will also get paid on the'place' part of the bet also! Bookmakers will generally just pay 1/4 of their chances that are quoted out on'place' portion of this bet. The #5'place' portion of your bet pays out #67.50. Worked out just like this -- a quarter of 50/1 is 12.5/1, #5@12.5/1 = #62.50 and your original #5 bet is returned, providing you #67.50. Add that to the #255'win' part and you've got #322.50 in winnings. Now let's assume your horse came third, bear in mind it does not make any difference to the payout if your horse finishes 2nd, 3rd or 4th. As your horse didn't win, you eliminate the'triumph' portion of # 5 and the wager. However, you amass #67.50 on the'place' portion of the bet. Worked out like this -- a quarter of 50/1 is 12.5/1, #5@12.5/1 = #62.50 along with your initial #5 stake is returned, giving you #67.50. Read more here: http://classicsounds.pl/?p=36879
