Aaron Martin came to Exeters rescue with a block to deny Jack Aitchison, while Nicky Law must have done much better for Exeter, who countered quickly, but his lob drifted harmlessly over the crossbar. Rovers had a opportunity to equalise when Aaron Collins had a header six yards out, but he had been refused by a diving save by Exeter goalkeeper Jonny Maxted.
