England will win Euro 2020 following summer and Manchester City's teenage midfielder should be in Gareth Southgate's side that will help them attempt. If he had been playing regularly for City in the Premier League, then he would do the exact same for England. I have no doubt about this. In 19, he is able to do - he is that special. Also as his skill on the ball, what I really like about Foden is he gets from the box. I had been moaning that that did not occur frequently enough when I was co-commentating on England's match against Kosovo earlier this month, and he would be the response - a midfielder who makes and scores goals, which will be something supervisor Southgate doesn't have in the present time. However he seems to be stuck to the fringes of City's first group and we are left to wonder why he isn't getting any game time this year while his manager Pep Guardiola tells everyone he is the most gifted player he has ever seen. It does not add up. I am not saying that City must be left by Foden , far away from it. However, I'm thinking of his development, and something needs to change. He wants to be playing top-level football today, and he should be requesting Guardiola why he isn't giving him if he charges him highly. If I were him, I'd be yanking the door of Guardiola down, saying:'Look, because I am missing out on so many opportunities here, I want to play.' We know how great Foden is from competitions that are lower-division, and for England Under-21s. I want to see him tested from the Premier League. When he's recovered from a stomach bug, I expect Foden will receive his first competitive club start of this year against Championship side Preston on Tuesday at the Carabao Cup (19:45 BST). But he has made his mark on that contest, when he made his breakthrough in the first team . Repeating exactly the identical pattern as last word - when performed 25 matches, but largely started against lower-division opposition in the early rounds of the domestic cups and some lifeless rubber Champions League matches - wouldn't signify progress, and it is also not exactly what he needs. It is and, in that regard, Foden has really gone backwards from 2018-19. At this phase of last season, he'd played 36 minutes - for example stoppage period - of soccer in the first six league games of City. Just a year ago on, so far he has had just 16 minutes, again when you count added time, which all came after he had been brought on late at City's opening-weekend win at West Ham. It's inadequate. Yesif he had been well enough, you can argue he might have been given a little more game time in the past week, in City's persuasive Champions League triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk or their 8-0 devastation of Watford. But I am not convinced that would have been the circumstance. He had been left on the seat as an substitute to their four Premier League matches - against Bournemouth Tottenham, Brighton and Norwich - and it seems that his position has not really changed. Why Foden isn't currently enjoying 12, of course, I can understand. City have so many star names and big hitters that are playing nicely, so Foden faces a struggle simply to get on the pitch ahead of Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva or Bernardo Silva. Chelsea's emerging players are in a different position because of their club's transfer embargo, but Foden must have seen Blues forward Mason Mount come on in England's past two Euro 2020 qualifiers and thought'That should've been me' Foden has shown us his talent when he's performed for the England Under-21 staff - appear at the targets he scored - but that is the stage he's had. It has meant he's fallen in the order, and there are probably four or five players before him for a place in the squad right now. That's not going to change while he is a bit-part participant at City. We've heard Guardiola say Foden is not assertive enough, and so the very first thing I'd do if I were him would be go and speak to his supervisor, and ask him what the situation is. I am certain that it has been talked about by them . Foden is observed by most as being the natural successor to David Silva, who is leaving City at the end of the season, and it could be the Guardiola has advised him he will finally get his location. But that does not help him and it isn't enough to just say he is among the future. Soccer doesn't work like that and if Foden does not do a thing about his situation, the season will proceed quickly. He could end up squandering it. Foden signed a six-year contract in the end of this past year in Etihad Stadium, but naturally he's some options about what occurs next. There've been plenty of other examples of talented young players not receiving their chance who put their clubs under pressure to perform with them more - like Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea, such as - or determined they had to leave. While Jadon Sancho was courageous enough to depart City for Borussia Dortmund at 2017, mount went last season, and these days he is getting his reward. He's miles ahead of him, although He's old than Foden just 64 days. By getting matches Every one have done things to Foden. It has helped them get into the England team, and also now there will be other players following them. Foden benefits from instruction under Guardiola, and alongside the remainder of the star-studded squad of City - and that I understand the argument. However, if he keeps doing this, he could end up as England man. He desires soccer, in the Premier League. He will be seeing Euro 2020 about the TV while he's on holiday with his mates, if he doesn't get it. That is what Foden must think about if he's got the chance to depart City on loan at January.
