Could learn in the animal kingdom to confuse their competitors - should they run fast enough. Research shows that their predators may confuse by simply looking when they proceed 22, to be fuzzy. Scientists at Newcastle University played praying footage of contours created to bugs moving across a backdrop to get this out. The movement was created to be like the adventures of praying mantises. The bugs, a few of which had broad or narrow stripes, would move across the display at various speeds, with the mantises. Scientists found the mantises found it especially tricky to spot the bugs using stripes moving at faster speeds. This is believed to be since the stripes around the creature blurred to the predator and more difficult to observe when they proceed at speed. While it has been known for some time now that animals camouflage by mixing into their surroundings, it's the very first time it has been proven that some animals gain from moving to hide themselves. The lead author Professor Candy Rowe, of the research, explained that rate and stripes are a winning combination in the wild. "While we did so experiment by praying mantises chasing rectangular bugs onto a computer display, the identical principle should apply in the wild," he explained. "So maybe stripes help to hide zebras running on the plains, or hoverflies flitting from flower to flower," she said.Prof Rowe proceeded to say that footballers could benefit from the customs. "So Newcastle United's stripes may be helping throw away their opponents - provided that the players are running quickly enough," she said. If they lost a match in 1996, sir Alex Ferguson once famously switched the grey off kit at half-time of Manchester United. The director said he felt that they blended in with the crowd and players were not able to make each other from the bright sunshine. This kit was never worn by manchester United .
