Rhys Patchell is going to be appropriate despite suffering his third concussion in a calendar year, insists Warren Gatland. The 26-year-old fly-half abandoned the pitch during the first half of Wales' 19-10 defeat Ireland on Saturday for a head-injury assessment (HIA) after colliding with CJ Stander in the build-up to Ireland's very first try. Head coach Gatland admitted on Saturday that Patchell will be assessed from the medics within the upcoming few days, together with all the Welsh squad flying to Japan on Wednesday. Wales have two fly-halves in their 31-man squad, with Gareth Anscombe recovering from knee surgery and Patchell and Dan Biggar that the two playmakers to the World Cup. Asked if Patchell would be on this flight, Gatland said:"Patchell will be fine for this. He appears okay from the rooms now. "He's just got to be assessed within the next few days. We'll talk to the medics about that and see how he fares during the next few days." Patchell has endured a wretched run of harm fortune, having fought a hamstring that was torn along with two past concussions across the class of the previous 12 months. He has acquitted himself well in Wales' warm-up matches, but now faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup opener against Georgia. Asked if he had any issues with two fly-halves in his squad, Gatland included:"We'll see how he comes out of the next couple of days. "He definitely deserves some good luck because he's gone well. And the ironic thing is that is often where the concussions occur , when players go low and that he went and the tackler gets struck by a knee or a hip. "So that is something we are going to have to keep seeing with World Rugby." Read more here: http://classicsounds.pl/?p=37404
