Originally from Cumbria, Wilson is a"honorary Geordie" having played more than 200 occasions for Newcastle Falcons. "North-east fans want to get amused," Wilson told BBC Sport. "Hopefully we could entertain them on Friday night" Wilson joined the academy as a 14-year-old of Newcastle prior to making his Falcons introduction. Following their last season, he will go to Sale on loan after the Rugby World Cup, before returning in time to get the 2020-2021 effort to the Falcons. He feels the next generation might inspire, and states English rugby must continue to encourage the game at the north of the country. "It is important we still get behind gaming in the north," he added. "It's crazy to think [there's a Test in Newcastle] - when I was a kid the only means to see England was down in Twickenham. "So for a lot of these north-east lovers they are totally likely to be quite excited about seeing England in their doorstep. "St James' Park is a class place to perform with, and the air is wonderful. Hopefully people will come out in their numbers and fill it."
