Former UFC women's featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is currently in talks with the world's leading MMA promotion about a new contract, according to her representative Audie Attar, who talked to ESPN's Ariel Helwani on his MMA show. Cyborg has one fight left on her contract after her shocking KO loss to Amanda Nunes in UFC 232, however her and her representatives have been apparent with the UFC they are interested in a reunion. In accordance with Attar, Cyborg hopes to fight at UFC 237, which takes place this May at Curitiba, Brazil. The main event of that event will be headlined by UFC women's strawweight champion Rose Namajunas carrying on No. 1 contender Jessica Andrade, also it makes a lot of awareness to pump up the undercard using a fighter of Cyborg's popularity and name worth, notably in Brazil. If Cyborg does fight in UFC 237, that will be the last battle on her contract, even as he has only 1 fight left it with no winner's clause because of losing the belt. The UFC will be smart to bring back Cyborg on a new deal. She's proven to be a small pay-per-view draw in a time when the UFC needs fighters who market shows, and she will not be cheap to re-sign, she is proven to be worth the price. So far as women's fighters proceed, there aren't many more exciting fighters compared to Cyborg and there sure aren't many with much more name worth than she has. The UFC absolutely should re-sign her as long as the ask is appropriate. Even though it would be nice to view Cyborg receive a rematch with Nunes viewing like she was on a 13-year win streak before losing her belt in mad fashion, it is very unlikely Nunes would take that struggle. The rumor is that Nunes would like to battle Holly Holm next for the UFC women's bantamweight championship, which would leave Cyborg with no upcoming logical competitor. There are not too many featherweights in the UFC at this time, but both which do stand out are Megan Anderson and Cat Zingano. Anderson just beat Zingano in controversial fashion after a toenail slit her eye and the fight was stopped in the first round at UFC 232, but Anderson did get her hand raised. If the UFC desired to perform Cyborg from Anderson in Brazil, that's a struggle that produces a whole lot of sense. Cyborg will fight out that last battle of her contract, however in the case she will enter free service, she will have a lot of suitors. Evidently, Bellator would take a run at her ex-Strikeforce promoter Scott Coker is in control of the business. But I would guess RIZIN and ONE would also take a run at her, not to mention the WWE, Golden Boy MMA and even some boxing promotions. Cyborg will have plenty of options to choose from. However, if her broker is being sincere, she wants to return to the UFC, and it might be excellent to get MMA fans if that's what happens.
